Friday's Find: Fire-King Wheat!

TGITF Friends! Today I am sharing a Vintage vignette created with my latest yard sale treasures...

Fire-King Wheat

Friday's Find: Vintage Serving

Greetings Friends--so glad you stopped by to see today's fabulous finds!  Both are Vintage treasures that match a few of my existing collections. First, I discovered this Fire-King Primrose cream and sugar at Friscoe Mercantile, when visiting my dear friend and thrifting partner, Stacy. We have added this fun mall to our list of favorite haunts for its huge selection, reasonable prices and vast array of creative ideas.  If you are ever in the area be sure to check it out!

I am fond of using cream and sugar sets for displaying herbs or flowers.  You may remember my previous Fire-King Primrose so I was thrilled to find this set in mint condition, and a bargain as well!

Not Your Momma's Garden: Creative Ways to Bring the Outdoors Inside!

Greetings Friends! I  am a southern girl. I do not do cold well and quickly tire of the long gray days of Winter--even our mild ones here in Texas.  I have found one of the quickest ways to beat the January blues is by bringing the outdoors inside.  Now to be honest, I normally tend to have better luck with things I can plant in the ground rather than typical houseplants.  However, by trial and error I have found a few "easy" indoor plants and flowers that are pretty and resilient. Combining them with thrift store containers provides an inexpensive, creative way to brighten your mood while also improving the air quality in your home--win, win! I thought I would share some of my favorites with you.  First, is cheerful Primrose.  It comes in an array of bright colors and I usually find it with the grocery store flowers; this one was $1.99.  It is easy to care for, just remove the blooms as they fade and be careful not to over water it. Here it is displayed in a Vintage tin with a collection of my thrifted finds.

Friday's Find: Fire-King Primrose!

After making a long list of sales to attend, I started my morning in anticipation.  I attended an estate sale, six yard sales and a thrift store without any luck.  I was starting to think I might go home empty handed but still had a few more stores to try.  At my last stop I struck gold--or should I say primroses!  Fire-King Primrose was manufactured only from 1960-1962.  It is a pretty little floral pattern set against white milky glass.  About a year ago,  I bought two teacups with saucers and some baking dishes for a great price at an estate sale.  However, I never purchased any plates because the only time I have seen them, the price was too high.  Today I found two for 50% off-- perseverance is a virtue when thrifting!
