Ode to Herbs! Spring Mantel

Happy Monday Friends! Right up until I purchased several herbs and flowers to refresh my outdoor containers, we were having a very mild winter. Of course as soon as I bought them, we had our coldest temps in over 30 years! So I improvised and decided to create an early spring mantel to enjoy my plants indoors for now

My Ode to Herbs mantel is also inspired by the pretty herby puns I received for Christmas.

I have been waiting for the right opportunity to showcase these lovely gifts from Dear Firstborn...

...so I displayed them inside a tobacco basket with fresh and dried lavender.

Despite the previously mild weather, it's still on the early side to buy plants, so I was thrilled to find a few containers of lemon thyme.

I arranged the fresh plants in zinc and white-washed terracotta pots nestled in a chicken feeder tray.

Violas and pansies are such happy flowers!

  1. Hi Cecilia,

I love your goodies from your son. I'm all about lavender. Can't wait for spring I use lemon thyme and regular thyme often cooking.

I'm a huge Viola lover too.

  4. What a wonderful touch of spring. Here in Maine, I'm not looking forward to another 6 weeks of winter. People look at me funny when I claim to be glad to see mud season--can spring be far behind? I love the purple and yellow "johhny jump ups". They occasionally reseed themselves here and I am always overjoyed to find one!
