Thrifty Vintage Vanity Floral Inspired Bedroom Office Nook

Happy Monday, Friends! My home will be 19 years old this June and since the master bedroom is the only room I haven't repainted, I decided it was long overdue! As is often the case with my decor projects, one thing led to another so this will be the first of two blog posts featuring my thrifty floral inspired bedroom refresh. I spent less than $50--including the paint! I'm starting with one of the few pieces of furniture I haven't shared on the blog before, my vintage vanity...

Sometimes the best treasures may be aged, dusty and hidden in a thrift store corner just waiting to be discovered. Long before my blogging days, I rescued a vintage vanity from one of my favorite thrift stores. Though it was yellowed and dated, I loved the design and could see it really had potential. It had beautiful detail and the top lifted to reveal a mirror and storage.

I painted it a pale mint green with white trim and lightly distressed it. Since then, the pretty piece has served double duty creating a small office space in my bedroom. After repainting the room from the original cream color that had yellowed with age to a fresh bright white, I decided to rework my little office nook.

If you've read even a few of my blog posts, you know my affection for florals isn't new. This print of The Artist's Garden by Monet was a gift from Dear Firstborn. She brought it home from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. She was just 16 then and knew that flowers have always inspired me.

Of course I prefer fresh, but occasionally I pair them with faux.

With the room freshly painted, I decided to create an everlasting garden on the wall designated to my office space, using the famous quote by Claude Monet, "...must have flowers always and always." See how to create this 15 minute dollar store flower garland, here! You can find the peony heart wreath, here!

It's amazing how a few simple changes can make such a difference!

No, my vanity/desk isn't always this clean ;)  Though I keep a calendar with reminder notifications on my phone, I still keep a daily to-do list.

This little table was a yard sale makeover and is next to the vanity. I have office storage below. I print my shipping labels from Etsy and I have to say I have loved this little wireless printer.  Stay tuned for the rest of the bedroom refresh, coming soon!

  1. I just love your vanity! It would match the dresser I picked up at a thrift store and bought a similar paint color for it. I bought it to sell but I may have to keep it. I love the Monet quote.

  2. Pretty, Cecilia! I love the color, and it looks great in your room. My garden's getting watered this morning.....with SNOW....again. I honestly can't believe this weather. It's so unlike our region for this time of year. Cutting grass one day, wearing winter jackets the next.
Have a great week, and send some TX heat our way!

  3. Great makeover, love that Queen Anne style. The pale green is so fresh and modern, while retaining the antique vibe.

  7. I love that vanity, the Monet quote, and your Monet print. I have the majority of my Monets in my bathroom; you do your art appreciation as you are drying off! Mine have come from yard sales, GW, and church rummage sales! As the bathroom was just painted, I am slow getting them back up and have enjoyed rearranging them; they have sunlight and serenity in them as well as flowers!

  9. Love this office space! So bright and pretty. That vanity is gorgeous. I wish I could keep a space looking so good. Between blogging and etsy I can't seem to NOT take over any room I'm working in! Right now it's the dining room....xoKathleen|Our Hopeful Home
