Hi Friends! I have been inspired to participate with the lovely bloggers at the Thoughts of Home party for their Seasonal Tiered Tray Extravaganza. If this sounds like fun to you as well, drop by and visit Laura, Jemma, Stacey, or Laura and link up your tiered tray decor. If you would like to join the fun, but like me, are one of the few people who don't already have a tiered tray, why not create your own? Here's how I did it...
Tiered tray stands seem to be everywhere and while I adore the look, they can be quite pricey. So, what's a thrifty girl to do? Use what you have to create your own! I do happen to have a variety of cake plates that I often stack for added height in my displays. However, I found that by simply flipping the cake stands over and inverting them before stacking, it had more of the tiered tray effect. I added a plate for the top tier and was ready to arrange some festive fall goodies!
Assorted white pumpkins are my favorites and they finally made an appearance here, this week. For the bottom tier, I arranged them with Indian corn, a mini floral arrangement from a grocery store bouquet and one of the squirrels from a pair of vintage salt and pepper shakers.
I thought it would be fun to create sort of a hospitality station, so on the middle tier I placed a few jars of my organic herbs to have on hand as hostess gifts.
For the top tier, I added the other squirrel shaker and gave him a stash of acorns, plus plenty of fresh mint...
...for the fall beverage bar. Of course being from the south, I add mint to almost every thing I drink! I used pieces from my vintage jadeite collection to display an assortment of cocoa, hot tea, and cinnamon sticks for apple cider. Which do you prefer?
Here's a peek at the full tiered tray. I really love that I was able to discover another way to showcase my vintage collection by using what I already have. Unlike what I might find in the stores, It creates a very personalized display. Oops...looks like I need to move my Happy Fall sign up a smidge ;)
What do you have on hand to create a tiered tray that reflects your personal style?
Happy almost Fall!
MY HEARTFELT THANKS TO THE FOLLOWING FOR FEATURING THIS POST:
We think alike! :) My tier was made of cake plates, too, but with white milk glass ones. Love your jadeite ones! Beautiful ensemble! ~Rhonda
ReplyDeleteSWEEEET!!!
ReplyDeleteCute! I don't have a tiered stand either and can you believe I only own one cake stand? Ha, I'm so not in trend. Lol.
ReplyDeleteLove the squirrel salt and pepper shakers! They are so cute. Your jadeite is gorgeous - it looks good styled with the Fall goodies. As for my beverage, I'll take some hot cider, please. :-)
Love the idea and the squirrels, too.
ReplyDeleteThe squirrels are adorable...I've used cake stands for years to form a tiered look...and yours is really pretty....what a fun time we are having at this party. :)

ReplyDeleteWow, I love your jadeite! Your little Fall touches look so nice against it. I only have one cake plate too & it's clear glass. Admiring your collection...
ReplyDeleteThis one takes the cake!! Jadeite is just perfect for the fall colours you have added. Such a sweet vintage look to the entire piece. Love it! I too used a cake stand on my tiered tray.
