Vintage Postcard Inspired Spring Tablescape

Greetings Friends! Did you read today's title and think, "Whaaaat?"   I have made no secret of my affection for vintage postcards and I know some of you share my fondness for the lovely tokens of days past. Join me as I share how I used the inspiration to design my spring tablescape...

When Cecilia B and I visited Canton recently, our first stop was a delightful shop called Laurie Anna's Vintage Home.  I am really glad that Cecilia thought to go there before heading to Trade Days, as it truly was one of the highlights of our trip.  Let me tell you, every little detail was my cup of tea including the stacks of these gorgeous papers reminiscent of vintage postcards.  We oohed and ahhed and I gathered several with the intention of creating a special spring project, though truth be told, I didn't have anything specific in mind. Big surprise, right? ;) One was lovelier than the next and of course, now I wish I'd selected a few more.  Honestly, how sweet is this little lamb?

I've been adding spring accents to my decor and decided to pull out pieces from my thrifted milk glass collection for my tablescape.  As I admired my new purchase, I laid a few of them on the table in the center to see how they would look as a sort of runner. It was only then that I realized they were place mat size.  After arranging the pretty papers around my dining table, call me crazy but I couldn't bear to cover them with dishes--and you know how much this girl loves her dishes! I created a simple centerpiece using a milk glass platter, a favorite bunny and chalk painted eggs nestled in shredded paper I'd received in a gift basket.  I found a vintage hankie from my collection that complemented the postcard mats.
