Friday's Find: Junk-tastic Toolboxes!

Thank God it's thrifty Friday, Friends! Here's my favorite find this week, all decked out for the Fourth of July! Come see what else I found...

You may remember I often start in the garage, at estate sales and that is exactly where I found these fabulous old toolboxes. They were stacked on the floor and I couldn't grab them quick enough.  I love the color and even the homemade labels. They make perfectly junk-tastic planters and who knows, maybe eventually I'll use them for storing tools of some sort ;)  Which do you like better?

One of my favorite neighborhood nurseries is going out of business--boo! They were pretty picked thru by the time I got by but I found a few things for the garden for 75% off. I can always use more seeds and love it when I can stock up on practical finds like the garden hooks and mosquito dunks. How cute is that rustic birdhouse?

Clearance garden finds

Last but not least, one of my favorite things to find on clearance--flowers! I rarely shop what I refer to as the dreaded W**mart, but alas sometimes I must. The one in my small town stays so crowded that I often wait longer in line than it took me to shop and customer service is nonexistent. However, I found these clearance petunias there half price!

I'm so glad you stopped by today...

  4. I'm always sorry to see yet another person casting stones at WalMart. Is there some sort of snobby society that requires this kind of dispersion in order to gain entry into a very rarified setting where people sit in comfy wingback chairs, sip brandy from snifters and look down their noses at those of us who find WalMart a good place for good prices. If so, I'm quite happy to be yet another person you can turn your nose up at.

    1. Good morning! While I usually respond to comments via email, I wanted to respond your comment in case I have offended any one else! Perhaps I should have mentioned that Walmart used to be my favorite store before Sam Walton passed. When my children were growing up, we shopped there weekly. However, since then, I have known people who were employed by Walmart who were not treated well. As I mentioned in my post, my complaint with my local store is poor customer service and long lines with usually only 3-4 registers out of 30 open. I am sure there are probably stores with excellent customer service. As someone who buys 90% of my home decor at thrift stores and weekly shares my bargains with readers, I can assure you that it was honestly not my intention to look down my nose at anyone and I apologize if it sounded that way.

  5. I love old vintage chippy toolboxes. My biggest regret in thirfting is passing up an old fishing tackle box. I went back the next morning and alas it was gone.
