Greetings Friends! Have you had a relaxing weekend? I'm still basking in the joy of a week long visit from Youngest Daughter and Ginger Grand--what a sweet time we had! Today I am sharing my birthday celebration with GG...
GG's birthday was a few weeks before their visit. I sent him a gift but really wanted to celebrate with him in person. Since he had already had a few parties before they arrived, I came up with a treasure hunt idea. I used PicMonkey to create a map with images from the garden as clues and left little trinkets along the way for him to hunt.
Ginger Grand has always been fond of ladybugs. I knew he would enjoy these binoculars. At each stop, I added chocolate candy coins treasure.
Next was a creepy, crawly wind up centipede...
GG had to pick it up just to make sure it wasn't real! I can't tell you how many times we wound it up and watched it creep during his visit. He squealed in delight every time :)
He genuinely seemed surprised each time he saw the candy and exclaimed, "Treasure!"
What little boy doesn't like airplanes? I thought these foam ones from Target were fun.
I think GG agreed!
The treasure hunt ended at the tree where GG had swung since he was a baby. When they moved last year, he could no longer fit in his toddler swing but that didn't keep him from asking about it when I went anywhere near that tree! I had his new big boy swing hanging with treasure on the seat. He hopped on and my heart was happy.
Selfie with my sweet boy--can you tell I like him just a little?!
What or who makes your heart happy?
What fun! My Tiger would love a treasure hunt also. Thanks for the great idea! Cute selfie!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet Cecilia ... What a fun 'private' birthday party you had for him. Great ideas. I bet you had as much fun as he did. Love that creepy, crawly wind up centipede and of course the swing which will bring hours of fun for him. He will always look forward to the next visit. Wishing you more happy times with GG.
