Crochet a Mini Hanging Planter (with Dollar Store Supplies!)

Happy Tuesday Friends, and welcome to the Creative Craft Blog Hop hosted this month by Donna from Modern on Monticello! Today I'm sharing a simple crocheted craft that's cute and functional--plus it's made with thrifty dollar store supplies

Crocheted Mini Hanging Planters

These mini hanging planters are lightweight enough to hang with a thumb tack and there are many ways to display them whether you want to craft unique tiny bottle vases or create a pretty propagation station for plant cuttings. TIP: I found the mini bottles and creamy cotton yarn at Dollar Tree.

Start with 12 chain stitches and join with a slip stitch to form a ring. Next half double crochet around the ring. Then chain 6, single crochet inside stitch. Skip a stitch and repeat this pattern around the ring until it creates a flower-like design. Insert the mini bottle, chain stitch 16 to create a hanger, slip stitch to join and tie off. TIP: Make sure the crocheted ring fits snugly around the top of the bottle.

Here you can see how I've hung several mini planters, using a large basket background to create a lovely propagation station. Look here for more creative plant decor ideas!

  1. These are so cute and creative. I have yet to branch out past crochet kits but I appreciate the effort that goes into making things now. Thanks for joining the hop this month.

  2. Another pretty project, Cecilia! I never learned to knit, although I had an aunt who made us sweaters every Christmas. I think this idea is very creative and different. Great job!

    1. Thank you, Carol. I have really enjoyed returning to the crochet my grandmother taught me as a girl.
