Celebrating Easter with Good Friday Garden Crosses

Good Friday Greetings, Friends! Do you ever find yourself walking through a room or around the garden and suddenly your eyes land on something that conjures a sweet memory or special significance? That's just what I experienced this Easter week, and I wanted to share these brief moments of joy with you today by celebrating the cross in my garden...

I am excited to be joining the Celebrating Easter Mini Hop hosted by Amber at Follow the Yellow Brick Home.  If you hopped over after visiting Katie at Let's Add Sprinkles, welcome! I know you were inspired by her charming decor! As I contemplate the anticipation of celebrating Christ's resurrection on Easter Sunday, Good Friday is a day of gratitude for me. Although I must confess that the garden clean up I have been doing since the February ice storm hasn't all been joyous, it's been lovely weather here, and I've been reflecting on Easter and the significance of the cross. This unique floral cross was a thoughtful gift from Youngest Daughter when she was in college. Before we take a little stroll to view the rest of my garden crosses, here's a peek at some recent Easter posts I've shared in case you missed them! Last week, I shared my spring home tour featuring some simple Easter decor.

If you're looking for a tasty Easter treat, I shared a recipe for the yummy lavender chocolate brownies that were featured...

I also shared a tutorial for a DIY mossy wreath that you can customize for Easter and spring, which brings us back to our garden cross stroll!

I said a little prayer of gratitude when I noticed the lemon balm is starting to come back. Since I lost several large rosemary bushes due to weather, I wasn't quite sure what to expect with my other herbs. (The recent winter storm was the coldest weather my Texas garden has ever experienced.)

I found the handmade mosaic cross at an arts and crafts festival years ago. Hopefully, it will be surrounded by more herbs soon, and I love the contrast of the bright colors and natural greenery.

Another colorful cross is the Talavera gift from Favorite Son. He brought it home from a mission trip, and it hangs by the back door year round. I'll leave you with a few garden crosses from Easters past.

  2. I love that cross. It's so beautiful. You have a wonderful collection of crosses and I love them in the garden. It's sets the tone for our home. Have a blessed Easter. It was fun hopping with you.

  3. Thank you for sharing. Happy Good Friday!

  4. Such a beautiful post and so appropriate for the day! Love seeing your crosses in the garden and reading your thoughtful sentiments.

Since lemon balm is in the mint family, it is very hardy! I don't think I have ever lost a mint plant under any circumstances! So nice to see signs of life in the garden in time for Easter!

Thank you for joining the hop. Have a blessed Good Friday and Happy Easter weekend!

  5. Hi Cecilia, your garden crosses are beautiful and I love the idea of incorporating them into flower and herb beds. I have a large wrought iron piece and you've inspired me to find a spot for it now after yard clean up. The Easter tablescape and bunny plates are beautiful. I'm heading to that post now. Hope you have a wonderful Easter Weekend!

  6. Very pretty cross collection. I can't wait to see flowers and green.

    Happy Easter!

  7. It's all lovely, Cecilia. Happy Easter!!

  8. Always love seeing your treasures and how you use them. I felt serene after seeing your post--dental infection have spoiled my Lenten season. Would you believe I only plugged in a few houses of my Easter village this morning!!! So behind. When my SO did the transfer station run, I made a few chocolate covered marshmallow eggs with Campfire Girls egg-shaped marshmallows! Hid them in the oven to harden! Will be decoupaging eggs after Easter at the rate I'm going! Happy Easter!
