Happy Thursday, Friends! It's time for another Creative Crafts blog hop so I'm popping in a day early to share an easy stenciled project. I'll show you two ways I used this versatile upcycled wine crate in the garden. Of course, you can always bring it indoors if you prefer...
Thanks to Chloe at Celebrate and Decorate and Andrea from Design Morsels for hosting! Ready to stencil a crate? I picked this one up at a yard sale a few years ago--it was dirty, but sturdy! First, I cleaned it up thoroughly. Next, I gave it a coat of pale green paint--a find from the Oops paint section at Lowe's. Then, I distressed it lightly with fine sandpaper.
Last, I used a makeup sponge and outdoor craft paint to stencil it.
The stencil was a Hobby Lobby coupon purchase. {See a previous project I completed with this stencil, here!}
Here's a closer peek at the finished stenciling.
In the previous photos, you saw how the crate can be used as a planter for herbs or flowers. Below, you can see how I use it for storage under my vintage potting stand.
Thanks for stopping by! Next on the hop is Debbee from Debbee's Buzz--you'll love her fabulous wreath inspiration! Check out the rest of the creative crafts below!
Oh Cecilia, your stenciled crate project turned out great! I love the color you chose (never knew about the Oops section — thanks for that tip), and your stencil was the perfect choice for your vintage potting stand.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome way to update and personalize an old wine crate, Cecilia! I love the stencil you used - perfect in any decor. And you make stenciling seem so simple and easy to do! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCecilia, I've got two crates that I always meant to stencil. Yours turned out perfect, and I love the color choice for using outside in the garden area. I really need to walk by the oops section more often:)
ReplyDeleteI love the way your planter box turned out. I never thought of using a stencil on a wood box, but looks adorable. Thanks for the great inspiration and being part of the hop.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great rescue and transformation! It looks lovely Cecelia!

This turned out so cute and I love it! Wonderful craft hopping with you friend!
ReplyDeleteI agree, you do make stenciling look so easy--and on non-level wood, it can't be as easy as it looks. I love boxes, baskets, anything that can be used for storage. And you can use this box so many ways! Hope the storms are missing you!
ReplyDeleteCecilia,
ReplyDeleteThis great, I have a very similar stencil. Very well done!

Oh Cecilia, Your flower market crate is speaking to me, so cute for your garden! I’ll have to look for that adorable stencil at Hobby Lobby and remember to check the ‘oops’ paint section of Lowe’s next time I have a project. Happy to be crafting with you again ♥
ReplyDeleteCute crate!! I love this idea as crates can be used for so many decorating touches in and out of the home! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteStenciling is one of the projects I haven't tackled, and yet, I want to! This turned out perfectly! What a great addition to your gardening collection!
ReplyDeleteI love your stenciled crate, Cecilia! It looks lovely overflowing with flowers. I've never used a makeup sponge to stencil before. Thanks for the tip! I'm going to try that the next time I have a stenciling project. I love the oops paint section...you never know what you'll find, but it's always a bargain. It was fun hopping with you again!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful idea! I know I have a box I do this on. ~ Kristin | White Arrows Home
