Garden Bench Refresh with Chalk Paint

Happy Monday, Friends! Have you been busy in the garden lately? Today I'm sharing my latest project--I used chalk paint to refresh my garden bench...

Some of you may remember when I painted it bright green several years ago. At that time, it was at the edge of my landscaping, closer to the street, and I wanted a pop of color.

Since then, I've moved it closer to the house with a backdrop of greenery. Although it looked almost white when I photographed my stenciled pillow, it was actually the same green, but very faded and not so pretty.

It was ready for fresh paint, and I decided to use some I had on hand: Americana Decor Chalky Finish Yesteryear. {For those of you looking for brighter chalk paint colors, I've included links near the end of the post.}

It only required one coat. Although the color looks lighter here in the morning sunlight, it's a pale weathered gray that looks lovely with the creeping fig and will complement different tablescapes when I'm rearranging. ;)

  4. Oh I love, love, love your little bench...so unique. I have done one project in chalk paint...a small chest...and it about did me in. I couldn't get the exact color I wanted so had to mix my own. It turned out OK but it's not holding up well. Guess I should have waxed it but wasn't up to it.

  6. Your bench came out so nicely. Love that pillow, too; got 2 recently with turquoise stripes on the edges; think I want to embroider them!
