Happy Monday, Friends! Do you have any faded garden signs that could use a little love? For my latest 15 Minute Fix, I'll show you a thrifty way to upcycle a faded sign or bring new life to a thrift store find...
In my excitement to complete my project, I somehow neglected to take the first before of my faded sign, but the letters were barely visible. Here's how it looked after painting it with yellow patio/outdoor craft paint.
The sunny yellow color was inspired by the dollar store decal I planned to use. This isn't the first project I've shared using Dollar Tree decals, and I'm sure it won't be my last! Be sure to check out the decals at your local store. You can find them on the aisle with the clothes hangers and tool type supplies.

Here's a peek at the sign after placing the bottom section of the decal. I've heard some criticism about the quality of these decals, but I've had good luck with hanging them in semi-covered outdoor areas like a porch or patio. TIP: DON'T apply mod podge or adhesive coating after placing your decal on the sign. I've heard from other bloggers that this has the opposite effect than intended, causing the decal to peel away from the sign.
I'll be joining my blogging friends on Friday for the Patriotic Tablescape Blog Hop, but the fun begins today! You can view the list of Monday's participants below:
I love this sign! So cute great idea
ReplyDeleteCute. Sunny days and sunny color
ReplyDeleteGreat sign with the bright yellow. I have had very mixed results with the Dollar Tree decals. My Serenity Prayer stuck beautifully to my painted sheetrock wall (the width of the arch from hall to living room was just the right width). Another peeled off a thrifted breadboard. One stuck beautifully to a thrifted used bread pan. I guess you just have to try it!
ReplyDeleteGreat color and decal choices! Bright and sunny:) I've only used their decals once on some ironstone and that worked well. xo Kathleen
