French Farmhouse Planter Repurposed from a Vintage Mail Rack

Happy Monday, Friends! Today I'm sharing a quick repurpose using an item I've bet you've seen at the thrift store...

...and I used DecoArt Chalky Finish in the Vintage shade to refresh it.

Have you ever been thrifting and come across the old wooden mail rack/sorter that hangs on the wall? That's what I repurposed to create a farmhouse style planter.

I received DecoArt paint as a member of the DecoArt Blogger Outreach Program. See full disclosure here.

Here's how it looked after two coats of chalk paint.

Before hanging it, I distressed it lightly and stenciled fleurs on it. The boxed in section at the bottom is just the right size to add a small potted plant or tuck fresh flowers in a small vase or jar of water.

It would also be fun to tuck some vintage postcards in the mail slots!

  5. That green is such a great color (and I didn't used to be a green fan!). I've never seen a rack quite like that. Great makeover. Happy Easter!
