Bee-utiful Repurposed Floral Cup Planter: My Dollar Store DIY

Happy Thursday, Friends! I'm popping in today to join blogger friends for the spring edition of My Dollar Store DIY, hosted by Rachael, at This is Our Bliss. If you're like me, you probably hit your local dollar store weekly. Depending on the selection, I made load my basket or walk out empty handed, but this week, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised...

Y'all. If you haven't been to Dollar Tree lately, don't walk--run! I found the star of this project with the paper plates. When I saw the beautiful spring floral design on these serving cups, I was inspired to repurpose them.

Their faux succulents are hard to come by, so I try to stock up anytime I see them. You'll notice that I removed them from the plastic pots they come in. The moss and plant markers are previous dollar store finds. Ready to make your own? Start by adding pebbles or dried rice to the bottom of the cup for weight. Next, fill the cup with moss.

Then, arrange the succulents. Last, shop your home to dress up the dollar store plant markers for an added touch of whimsy.

I used a chalkboard label and a tiny metal bee I had on hand. {TIP: If you prefer, add a small potted plant OR a small container of water with fresh herbs or flowers to your repurposed planter.}

  2. As we say in Maine, "cunning," for super cute. It surely is a bit of spring! I am so sick and tired of winter even tho today is a lovely day--for Febrary--my most unfavorite month.

  5. This is really cute. So that is a paper cup??? Sadly, I was at our local $ Tree this week and didn't see anything that cute. Our $ Tree stinks!!! We are a little town and I guess we don't rate the good stuff because I often see cute things on blogs that I never see in our store:( Thanks for the idea though!!!

  6. Hi, artificial succulents are pretty dense/heavy--so picking a wider based container is really a good idea. Cute tutorial!
