Thriftathon Part 1: Friday's Find #222

Thank God it's thrifty Friday, Friends! As promised, today I'm sharing the first part of two posts featuring my finds from my thriftathon with Cecilia B.  Can you believe the size of this frame? I'm not one to pass on vintage frames and at 3' x 4', it's the largest I've come across thrifting. I love its curvy details and it was only $2! Stay tuned Sunday to see how I'm using it!

With the exception of the white pitcher on the left, which was a gift from Audrey, these items were all 2/.25 at the Find's warehouse sale!

This little creamer is Sterling Colonial English ironstone by J & G Meakin. I love the pattern and the detail on the handle. I actually have a thrifted matching platter, too.

These classic sugar bowls aren't marked and are missing their lids, but I use lots of white vintage dishes in my decor.

I'm always happy to find wooden cutting boards, especially for such a great price. The cedar hangers were 2/.25 too.

I was really intrigued when I found this item. Do you know what it is?

It's a player roll for the Sears Roebuck Supertone piano!  The paper is super thin and fragile and the dates I found were from the 30s-40s. It was 75% off and I have a project in mind.

Last but not least, my only purchase from Comfort, a pair of wonderfully chippy fence pickets!

  2. Oh no. I had a roll of that player piano paper for YEARS. I never did anything with it and earlier this fall I was cleaning and purging and I donated it lol. So don't do anything TOO spectacular with it!!!

  3. Player piano roll, so interesting. I am looking forward to your project with it.

  4. I love that creamer, how fun that you have a matching platter! I think those sugar bowls may be cream soup bowls as they don't appear to have a rim for the lid to sit on. Maybe not, but they look a lot like ones we used to sell at the department store where I worked years ago.

  5. I would have run out the door with that frame! What a find! Nothing as cheap as those other finds around here. I've had a player piano roll for a few years now that I keep thinking I'll use for a project but still haven't done it! Can't wait to see what you do with yours!

  6. Wow, how likely was it that you would find that creamer that matches the platter? I don't think I've seen that pattern before, and see even less of green transferware, generally speaking! And what a great gift from Audrey.

  8. You did find some fun stuff Cecilia. Love the white ironstone pitcher with the green band. Looks really nice with the other white pieces and old cutting board. Glad you are happy with the other ironstone pitcher. The old picket fence pieces are my favorite.

  12. Love those fence pickets! Can't wait to see how you use them. I agree with Carolel about the cream soup bowls; I'd upcycle them with a pillar candle and a bit of greenery around them. Or maybe put broccoli and cheese soup in them!!! I'm sure you already know the trick about sanding the cedar blocks to make them give off more fragrance!
