Happy Wednesday Friends! Would you be surprised if I told you there are 10 more Wednesdays until Christmas Eve? I have to admit, I was! I know it may seem early to begin Christmas posts. Having said that, more than any other season I want the holidays to be a time of joy, peace and celebration. With that in mind, today I am starting a weekly Wednesday feature to help you plan ahead and keep it simple! I'll be sharing some new ideas as well as revisiting some of my favorite Christmas posts each week right up until December 24...
In my small town, I have literally seen people out shopping in their pajamas on Black Friday morning, but that's not what my title means. I am talking about the fantastically thrifty deals that are to be found online--many even before the hyped up day! Best of all, you don't have to frantically search the web. The work has already been done. Yep--there's an app for that! If you prefer, you can sign up for emails here, that's how I make my shopping list in advance. While electronics and toys may first come to mind, check out the vast variety of items available. The last few years, I have ordered my fresh garland and wreaths online from Lowe's while celebrating Thanksgiving with family in Houston, then picked them up from my local store when I returned home. I get the BF bargain while keeping it simple!
Here's a few more tips for savvy shopping:
Are you familiar with cart abandonment, browsing incognito or Camel, Camel, Camel? Cart abandonment simply means leaving a few items you want to purchase in your online shopping cart for a day or so. Very often, the retailer will email additional savings or coupons. I have actually had this happen! However, I would not use this approach with a one day or time sensitive offer. Browsing incognito can be done by clearing your cookies under your browser's toolbar and is helpful with stores you shop frequently. If the retailer cannot see your previous purchases, they are more likely to offer "first time" savings. Camel, Camel, Camel is an app you can install on your smart phone or computer that lets you know when Amazon
will offer their best prices on desired items! With these tips you will be armed and ready! Plan your list in advance, put the turkey in the oven and get some big purchases out of the way before your guests arrive! Or kick back after the dishes are done and the kids are in bed and save, save save! Fight the crowds if you like--I'll be snuggled up coffee cup in hand, deals at my fingertips :) Remember to come back each Wednesday for the next Countdown to Christmas Eve feature!

Very interesting information. I have become a last-minute shopper and need to change my ways. Thanks for the tips. Knowing it is only ten Wednesdays until Christmas eve is a little scary. Had to check my calendar to be sure you did not make a typo. lol

I never knew shopping could be made as easy as this. I am lucky in that my family has a tradition of only vintage items which can be picked up all year round. ReplyDeleteWow, you are super savvy girl! No black Friday for me. I always start decorating for Christmas that day. My shopping is fairly easy. I pick up a lot all year long and we give beef to our married kids. I really only have to worry about buying a few things. Looking forward to this series though. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
