How to Crochet Chenille Daisies

Happy Tuesday, Friends! Welcome to the Creative Craft Blog Hop hosted this month by Donna from Modern on Monticello! My craft is inspired by my beloved grandmother who taught me to crochet when I was a little girl. Today I'll show you a beginner-friendly way to crochet chenille daisies

If you hopped over after visiting Carol from Bluesky at Home, I'm so glad you're here! Despite learning to crochet as a girl, it had been decades since I picked up a crochet hook, but as the world is becoming more chaotic daily, leaning into all things creative brings me comfort--can you relate? Memories of my sweet grandmother are also comforting and I am reminded of her each time I crochet. I absolutely adore the texture of this chenille yarn from Dollar Tree and I am really loving the boho vibe. These chenille daisies can be styled as decor, worn...

Ready to make your own? I will provide written instructions or you can follow the steps in the image below. Start with gold/yellow cotton yarn, chain stitch 5 and join the last stitch to the first to create the center floret. Next,  single crochet (SC) in each stitch and repeat. Then switch to white chenille yarn and for each petal, chain 12, and slip stitch to the center. Stay tuned to see these crocheted daisies featured in my tablescape next month!

TIP: If you are a visual learner or for basics like the chain stitch, check out beginner crochet tutorials on YouTube--there are tons!

  2. Your crochet daisies are too cute and adorable, Cecilia! It reminds me of my mother-in-law who tried to teach me how to crochet but I could never pick it up. I will surely try again with your lovely how-to! I can think of a few ways to use them! Many thanks!!!!

  3. This is near and dear to my heart Cecilia because I had the exact same experience growing up! I learned to crochet as a girl too, but decades passed before I picked up a hook again. Crocheting also brings back the best memories of my grandmother (and my mom). Of all the creative things I lean into, I really think that crochet brings me the greatest comfort - there's just something so relaxing about it. I adore the texture of that chenille yarn you used, and the boho vibe you’re getting is just gorgeous! You can style these in so many ways; love it!
