Create a Serene Summer Bedroom: Bloggers Best Home Tour

Hi there, Friends! Today I'm excited to be joining a fun home tour featuring over 30 bloggers hosted by my sweet friend, Kelly from The Tattered Pew! Although summer is supposed to be a time of relaxation, it's easy to become as busy if not more busy during the season so many favor. Join me as I share how I carve out a little bit of serenity at my house...

If you hopped over from Follow the Yellow Brick Home, weren't you inspired by Amber's charming sense of style? Whether you're new here or a "regular," welcome to my home!

se·rene

calm, peaceful, and untroubled; tranquil.

Is anyone else raising her hand and saying, Yes, please! I'll have some of that! You might find me hanging out here, when I am looking for a little bit of outdoor serenity! It's also the perfect place for reading...maybe even a book that promotes peaceful living. (Insert shameless book plug here. 😉)

Like many of you, I also find tranquility in freshening up my decor for summer with thrifty finds. (Stay tuned--I'll be sharing the rest of my spring clearance bargains soon in an upcoming post.)

Since I shared my living and dining rooms during the fall, Christmas, and spring tours, I thought you might appreciate seeing my summer bedroom this time. Now if you hear the word serene and assume my bedroom is always tidy and uncluttered, let me assure you that's not the case!

Having said that, the bedroom is the place I most often relax. I make every effort to create my own little serene sanctuary, surrounding myself with the things I love. Vintage plates in the bedroom--why not?! (#dishaholic)

The lovely rosebud plates were a yard sale find, and I scored this charming art at a thrift store. Y'all know my home is full of thrifty treasures, but it's a rare find that doesn't need a little extra love. Can you believe it already had this gorgeous frame when I purchased it?!

Several years ago, I created this little bedroom office nook.  My upcycled vintage vanity doubles as a desk when needed.

I rarely pass up baskets at thrift stores because I use them as pretty storage for everything from office supplies to comfy pillows, quilts and... an ice cream cone pillow for a touch of whimsy!

If you've been here before, you already know my fondness for floral decor.

Since I'm single, I embrace my love for romantic, feminine decor.

Simple details like fresh flowers and...

...essential oil scented candles create a soothing, serene bedroom.

I also adore vintage pillowcases and usually find pairs like these with crocheted lace trim at estate sales, but I also keep my eye out at thrift stores for single pillowcases like this pretty, rose-patterned one I used to create a pillow cover. It's hard to mimic the comfort and visual appeal of its soft, timeworn fabric--not to mention I often pick up thrift store pillowcases for .50 or less!

A quick garden stroll yielded this aromatic rosy posy. The combined fragrance of sweet fairy roses and lemon balm is heavenly!

  19. I love the serenity of your bedroom. I love pillowcases, too. I make a lot of mine but thrift some, too. Al uses 2 pillows, I have 3 so I need a lot! My bed currently has a very colorful, busy, Grateful Dead album cover quilt on it--sideways--as it is not a king-sized one. Al's son and d-i-l got it for him. What can I say!
