Baby Cows and Bluebonnets: Spring in Texas!

Happy Monday, Friends! Spring has officially arrived here, in Texas! On Saturday, I joined Favorite Son and Darling DIL on a scenic drive to the Willow City Loop, north of Fredericksburg. I captured lots of photos, so feel free to pin...

spring in Texas

We've been having lovely weather, and I usually walk the local river trails several times a week. The trail is divided into segments with parking in different areas, so I really enjoy the variety. Some days, I park at the Riverside Nature Center, where I snapped these native blackfoot daisies...

Park benches are located along the trail. This one under the redbud tree is located near the nature center's parking.

My friend Carly's son, Maddux, went walking with me this week...

Sometimes, the ducks come to greet us!

I've been noticing small patches of bluebonnets cropping up here and there, which is why we decided to drive out to Willow City this weekend.

As you can see, the loop is well-known for its profusion of bluebonnets! We almost didn't go because it was drizzling outside, but I'm so glad we made the drive. We saw bluebonnets growing in rocks and dried river beds.

It's been years since I'd gone. Part of the loop winds through ranches and signs are posted cautioning drivers.

Many of the cows weren't fenced and seemed used to being photographed.

Darling DIL is obsessed with cows and she and Favorite Son were able to get up close to snap a photo.

We saw lots of babies, and this sweet one approached me. ;)

  6. In Maine, we still have dirty snowbanks and occasional gray bare ground--so envious! ERven just for some warmth!Foolish kamikaze robins are back, though; don't know what they are eating! Your photos are gorgeous.
