Boo! Spooky Floating Sign

Happy Wednesday, Friends! I have a special house guest and while you're reading this, I'm probably hitting the thrift stores with Cecilia from The B Farm! I'll be sharing more from our visit soon, but today I have a fun project created from repurposed address numbers...

You may remember when I found several copper house numbers for .25 each at one of my favorite thrift stores. At the time, I was contemplating a possible project and also asked for your suggestions. Interestingly, Mary suggested the very project I was considering!

It involved the letter B and though I didn't find one thrifting, I found the next best thing--one in the bargain bins at Michaels.

I wanted to create a vertical sign that would appear to float. I used double strands of fishing line to attach the letters to each other,

tied double knots and repeated...

...until it looked like this.

I had just the place for it by my back door.

It needed just a little something and when I saw this spooky spider that actually lights up at the dollar store, I couldn't resist. I knew it would delight Ginger Grand and sure enough, when he got a sneak peek during our last Facetime chat, he loved it! I used more fishing line to attach it. Now I just need to remember not to scare myself silly when I come home to the darkened doorway some night and forget about Mr. Creepy ;)
