A Mother's Day Tribute

Happy Mother's Day! Whether you are still chasing little ones or adjusting to an empty nest, I hope you are getting loved on today.  I want to take the opportunity to honor my dear mother...

Mother's Day

Mom was only nineteen when I was born. Here we are at one of my favorite places as a little girl, a small amusement park called Peppermint Park.

Mom is creative, artistic and resourceful.  I have early memories of her decorating our home and I'm sure my passion for my home is inherited from her.  Birthday parties for me and my two brothers were elaborate affairs with color coordinated themes and homemade cakes. Over the years, she has made countless birthday cakes for the grandkids--everything from a watermelon cake for her oldest grandchild, to a garbage truck for her youngest!

Last weekend, Mom came for a visit. We ate out, saw a movie and went to a lavender festival. Before she went home, I treated her to an early Mother's Day breakfast at one of our favorite restaurants.  Even though we aren't together today, I'm sending lots of love her way.  Here's to you, Mom!

  1. Wonderful memories Cecilia and a beautiful tribute to your Mom. Cute picture of you with your Mom. Glad you'll had some fun time together last week. Your blue sage, pink roses and rosemary make a beautiful arrangement. Saturday, we went to our daughter's family ranch for our Mother's day celebration. The drive was amazing with colorful Texas wildflowers all along the highway and field after field totally covered with blue sage. After lunch, we toured the ranch and took pictures of wild flowers and cactus blooms. Note: don't wear open-toed shoes when walking in fields of cactus. ouch !!!
