Friday's Find: Vintage Jadeite Pie Plate

Thank God it's thrifty Friday! Today I am sharing two fabulous kitchenware finds! First, look at these charming Vintage plates I scored for .25 each! This lovely Autumn Harvest pattern by Ever Yours was produced from 1955-1965. I found several each of this small plate size in addition to some dinner plates and small bowls hidden in stacks of other not-so-pretty dishes. In fact, these were so dirty, I first thought they were damaged. They just needed some tender loving care--so don't be afraid to hunt and dig! Your hidden treasures are waiting to be found!

Friday's Find: Shopping My Way Across Hwy 98

Hi Friends! When we were driving from the Florida airport earlier this week, my thrift store radar immediately started sounding off--I noticed several just on our way in, all on Highway 98! I'll confess as peaceful as my afternoons relaxing on the beach have been, my mind has wandered and my curiuosity peaked wondering what kind of bargains might be lurking here in another state.... I know, I know, and now you know just how accurate my blog name is!

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to share my vacation thrift stops in photos. Keep in mind, these are all on Highway 98 between Watercolor/Santa Rosa and Destin. If you want to get your thrift on in another state or city, The Thrift Shopper will locate nearby stores when you plug in your current zip--genius!

This store was on Lynn street right off the highway. It had a little bit of everything including a large warehouse with furniture at bottom dollar prices and posted daily specials--great place to find bargain pieces to re-create.

Jadeite Obsession: Updated!

Greetings Friends! I first fell in love with these pretty little green dishes known as Jadeite when I found three  plates in a resale shop. Since then, I've scoured thrift stores, yard sales, Etsy and an occasional antique shop--when the price is right, to hunt bargains for my collection. One of my friends refers to them as happy dishes and I have to agree!  Jadeite was mass produced from the 1930s-70s primarily by Fire-King and McKee. These days it can be pricey but originally, it was considered cheap restaurant ware. I read that Quaker Oats used to include a cup or saucer in their oatmeal canisters as a promotional offer. Now that is a prize I would like to find in my cereal box!
