Gathered from the Garden Botanical Lanterns

Happy Tuesday, Friends! Welcome to the Creative Craft Blog Hop hosted this month by Sara from Birdz of a Feather! Today I'll show you how to craft beautiful botanical lanterns that can be used indoors or outdoors. Best of all, you can gather most of the supplies from your garden

If you've hopped over after visiting Gail from Purple Hues and Me, aren't her handcrafted hydrangeas beautiful?! Maybe you'd like to craft botanical lanterns but don't have a garden--no worries! You'll only need a few blooms and the greenery of your choice, so just grab a grocery store bouquet. You'll also need a glass jar, and floating candles. If you want to hang your lantern outside, you'll need jar hangers and citronella oil. For indoor candles, we'll just add water. TIP: Keep an eye out at thrift shops and yard sales for jars--I scored mine, hangers included for $2 at a neighborhood sale! Ready to get started?

Start by gathering the flowers and greenery of your preference. Next arrange the flowers with the fronts facing outward. Then add greenery and top with water or oil as noted above. Last once the flowers are arranged to your liking, top with a floating candle. TIP: Don't worry if the flowers don't stay in place at first-- they will once the jar is filled with liquid.  Note: My citronella candles are a very mild blend for indoor use. I would not recommend regular citronella indoors and as with any candle, do not burn unattended. 😊

  1. These are so fresh and beautiful Cecilia. I didn't know the part about adding citronella oil to them if using them outdoors. So glad you shared this project.

  3. I love how you've brought the outdoors inside, but what an amazing solution to keep the mosquitos away outdoors too; these are gorgeous Cecilia!
