Happy Monday, Friends! Maybe like me you love the look of wallpaper but haven't been able to find just the right pattern or the one that catches your eye is too pricey. Today I'll show you the DIY technique I created by alternating several stencils to achieve the look of elegant toile wallpaper

Let me begin by saying that if you happen to discover one large stencil that you love...go for it! In my case, the old proverb applied: Necessity is the mother of invention. Even so, I really love the results from mixing three different stencils.
TIP: Start by arranging the stencils you plan to use. Before stenciling the wall, I practiced alternating patterns and colors on card stock paper. Make-up sponges are perfect for this stenciling project. Below you can see the green paint (Apple Barrel Indoor/Outdoor Spring Green) I used for the walls as well as the pink (Valspar Bella Pink Satin) for my closet doors. You'll also need plenty of painter's tape for securing the stencils.

You may notice that I didn't alternate the stencils in the exact same pattern each time. This is primarily because the wall I stenciled had narrow spaces above and on each side of the closets, so I used the stencil that looked best in those places. However, I found this approach much easier than it would be to cut narrow pieces of wallpaper plus sticking to one paint color helps create an overall cohesive look.

Here's how the wall opposite my bed looks after. What do you think? True confession: This began as a "weekend" project...I finished the following Thursday. 😉 I took my time and also "lived with" finished sections before moving on to the next.

Do you enjoy experimenting with different TV art screensavers? If you compare the photo above with the one below, you can see that I also elevated my very narrow TV frame which was a super quick and easy project that I'll share soon!
