Hi there, Friends! It's time for another Creative Craft blog hop hosted by Sara from Birdz of a Feather. I love using signs outdoors but they can take a beating from our scorching Texas sun! Today I'm sharing how to refresh a faded garden sign...
If you hopped over after visiting Rebecca from Zucchini Sisters, welcome! Ready to get started? Here's a before view of my faded and sad sign!
Next: Paint any trim a contrasting color. (I used copper craft paint.)
Now your sign is a blank palette and ready for a fresh start!
When I saw these fabulous decals at Dollar Tree, I could just picture them on my sign--so I grabbed two!

Place the decal as desired and slowly peel away the backing, smoothing it down firmly.
First: Place the desired letters. Next: Trace the letters with a pencil. Then: Fill in the letters with a Sharpie marker.
Voila! From faded to fabulous! Tip: I have had good luck using dollar store decals outdoors. I find they often outlast painted designs, but I will bring it indoors if a severe storm is expected.
Thanks for stopping by today! Next on the hop is Sara at Birdz of a Feather!

This looks fabulous in your garden Cecilia! The frame reminds me so much of a mirror I upcycled a few years ago; I'll remember our post when I want to update it again!
ReplyDeleteI would have never thought the beautiful flowers you placed on your sign was decals from Dollar Tree....love the look of them on your sign. Love the frame as well Cecilia! Great job.
ReplyDeleteYour handcrafted sign is such a gorgeous idea and look for your garden, Cecilia! Like Terrie, I never would have thought the flower decals came from Dollar Tree. What a great find and execution!
ReplyDeleteoh this turned out so pretty Cecelia! I love the decals you found at the Dollar Store, they are perfect! The letters look great and it looks so cute hanging on your garden gate!

So pretty, you did a beautiful job. Love the scrolly metal frame!
ReplyDeleteAwesome upcycle. I'd been tempted to go back, get some more of the same design and embellish something else! I love those Dollar Tree decals--they make so many that are cute for kids' rooms. I have a Serenity Prayer one on the archway (the wall is JUST the right width!) between my front hall and living room! I did not have good luck decoupaging one--they are too plasticy/
ReplyDeleteI love your sign, the decals are perfect! xo Kathleen
ReplyDeleteYour refreshed garden sign looks absolutely wonderful! I'm loving the look of the metallic paint you used on the metal. I like using those Dollar Tree decals, also. I have so many to still use in projects. I can't stop buying them lol.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely! And I'm always looking for things to go in my garden.
ReplyDeleteYour sign turned out nice. I kind of liked the old faded version too, though. I like the weathered look sometimes, but it has to fit. I like both.
ReplyDeleteFeaturing your post at the Sunday Sunshine Blog Hop today.
Have a good week!
