How to Crochet a Cozy Tablet Case

Happy Tuesday, Friends and welcome to this month's Creative Craft Hop hosted by Donna from Modern on Monticello. Today I'm sharing a cozy crocheted tablet case. It's a lightweight option for protecting the screen and you can customize it to fit any size tablet

If you hopped over after visiting Gail from Purple Hues and Me, isn't her upcycled picture frame tray lovely? Over the years, I've tried a few different types of tablet cases but I found them bulky and on the heavy side especially when I wanted to slip my tablet into a purse or carry-on for traveling. Here you can see views of the different portions of the case.

I selected a variegated cotton yarn and for my smallish tablet, I started with a 39 chain stitch foundation. Next, after stitching one and turning, I repeated rows of half double crochet stitches until the case was twice as wide as my device. Then, I single crocheted the side edges together, finishing with a final row of HDC as a border, before finishing off. One last thing: You'll notice that I made my case big enough to fold over the top edge but that's optional.

  1. The variegated yarn is beautiful! Your project couldn't be more timely Cecilia; I was just thinking that I need a tablet case when travelling too! I would definitely include the folding edge too; such a great idea to fully protect it.
