Good Day Sunshine! Vintage Headboard Trellis

Happy Tuesday, Friends! It's time for the Creative Craft Blog Hop hosted this month by Sara from Birdz of a Feather! Today I'm sharing a repurposed vintage headboard that can be used as a trellis in your flowerbed

Welcome! Aren't Sara's handmade earrings absolutely lovely?  It won't be long before the climbing morning glory on my headboard trellis will be covered in vibrant blooms like the ones below. I can't believe it's been almost 11 years since the first time I repurposed this headboard for the garden! Once upon a time, when my girls were still at home and shared a room, I painted and stenciled a pair of  these vintage metal headboards. At the time, it was pretty common to see them at estate and yard sales. So when I happened upon another one some years later, I was excited to repurpose it for the garden.

Since then, it has been through a lot of extreme Texas weather, so it was in need of some attention. I started by scraping flaking paint and sanding rusted spots--then it was ready to spray paint with Rust-oleum American Accents in Eucalyptus Satin. Last, I used outdoor craft paint to stencil Good day before painting a whimsical sunshine freehand.
