Easter Dish Garden

Greetings Friends! Since today is Palm Sunday which begins the traditional holy week prior to Easter, I wanted to share a special project for the occasion...

Though I love bunnies and eggs as much as anyone, no symbol means more to me at Easter, than the cross.  The Resurrection of Jesus is the cornerstone of my faith and while my desire is to honor it daily, Easter is a special time of reflection.  I spent some time in the garden this week and after trimming one of my huge rosemary bushes, realized the older branches would be perfect for miniature rustic crosses. I saved a few, removed all of the leaves and cut straight pieces like this...

To form the crosses, I cut the smaller stems in half, and attached them to the larger twigs with wire.  I wrapped in an x shape, one side at a time.  

I opted to use only wire rather than something more decorative to keep a rustic appearance.

Once I finished the three crosses, I placed them in a mossy floral form I found half price on my last trip to Michaels.  Next, I placed the form on a vintage china platter.

I wanted to create a banner, and was planning to make a paper one when I happened to find this nifty wood assortment at Tuesday Morning.

I used an ultra fine Sharpie to write the joyous message of Easter and...

...attached the banner with Tacky to the center cross.  

Last, I arranged fresh garden thyme around the edges of the dish. I love the tiny blossoms this time of year.
