Greetings Friends! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I'm sharing an upcycle of yet another recent clearance find! This one wasn't so pretty in the beginning but it just needed a little love...
Here's the before and as you can see this metal sign was pretty beat up--but nothing a little paint couldn't fix!
After wiping it down, I gave it a coat of chalkboard paint. Next, I wanted to emphasize the pretty scrolled edges, so I brushed the edges with Americana Decor Chalky Finish in Yesteryear.

Last year, I found a set of several chalkboard print decals marked down for less than $2 at Target. You may remember this Pier One knock off I made for my friend, Carly. Theirs was $50--mine was $5! I used one of the decals, and saved the rest for just the right project...
...and the Love is all we need decal is the perfect sentiment for my freshly upcycled chalkboard. Remember the sparkly heart from Friday's Find? Like my winter tablescape, I kept the burlap and vintage sheet music runner from the holidays on my mantel, for a romantic touch. Scrabble hugs and kisses, a mossy bird and mini succulent pot complete the vignette. {See how to make your own mini succulents here.}

I like it, Cecilia! The shape is perfect for a chalkboard. I love repurposing different things into chalkboards - it's a fun way to add a interest to your decor. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday, my friend!
I love this! I made a chalkboard menu board for my kitchen but I cheated and used the chalkboard paper! I love your very unusual metal board. The heart looks great on it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday Cecilia ... thanks for another inspiring idea. Love how you took your thrifted items and made something as lovely as this. Valentine just around the corner ??? (Oh my, guess I had better get Christmas put away) !!!

It all works so well together! Love the sparkly heart, always nice to have some bling. Don't you love it when you save something and find the perfect use for it later? I sure do! xoKathleen
ReplyDeleteThis turned out so cute, Cecelia! I do love chalkboard art!
ReplyDeleteAdorable! I don't have any chalk pieces in my home. I like the look and it reminds me of my teaching days. Maybe someday!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous board and I love the scroll around the edges! I have a chalkboard easel that was purchased for my beach wedding and I happened upon another board that I bought at Goodwill. It hangs on the wall and I am thinking once it gets a makeover my kitchen will become it's new home. Thanks for sharing your creativity and have a great week :)
