Thank God it's thrifty Friday, Friends! Have you ever bought a second-hand item that you knew was vintage but didn't realize what a treasure you'd found until you got it home? Let me tell you about this wonderful little Dutch oven I scored at a yard sale

Do you have a list of items that you hunt for when you go to yard sales or shop at thrift stores? I have been on the hunt for a small Dutch oven for bread baking for ages. Since I have rarely seen any, this oval piece in pristine condition caught my eye immediately--it was the right size and pretty, too! I noticed it was made in Holland and the seller accepted my offer of $5.

After a little research, I learned that my Dutch oven was Royal DRU porcelain enamel-coated cast iron manufactured by DRU Holland Cookware in the 1950s. I also saw the same Dutch oven available on Etsy and eBay in not nearly as good condition ranging from $50-$150--had I been aware of that, I might have offered more at the yard sale. I definitely got a bargain...but will it work well for bread? Stay tuned!
At a different yard sale, I found this pair of small Fire-King bowls for 10 cents...

...and a pair of bud vases, also 10 cents!

Until next time, happy hunting!

I love your vintage Dutch oven. I live in the Netherlands and quite near where the Dru used to be : ))
